Move-in day is here, and we have arrived at the 2018-2019 school year! We are very excited to see all the new faces and returners come back, and we have a ton of great events planned to make this year the best one yet!
To start, we have events going on every day throughout Howdy Week!
Monday, August 20th at 8:30 pm, we are going to have a special pool party in the evening with tons of snacks and refreshments.
Tuesday at 2:30 pm, we will be meeting up to go play Capture the Flag! All day Wednesday, we will be having our first ever Hullaballoo Events Events! Each RA will be hosting their own event on that day and residents are encouraged to come out and enjoy as many of the events as possible.
Thursday, it’s our famous Wiffle Slide Ball event that will start at 3 pm in the courtyard.
Friday, we will be having our Trivia Night game at 7 pm, where residents will team up and compete against each other by answering trivia questions.
Our final big Howdy Week event is our special Luau on Sunday, August 26th at 6 pm! Residents will enjoy an evening at the pool with Hawaiian based BBQ, yard games, music, and snow cones! These are the major events happening this month, so make sure to follow the Cambridge at College Station on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat to see videos and pictures of these events, social media contests, fun videos, and more!
We are very excited for another fantastic school year, and we can’t wait to see everyone on move-in day!
High school graduation seems like it was yesterday. From tassel flipping to cap tossing culminating what seemed to be the longest 4 years of your life. Now on to living life abundantly with your best friends all summer long. Staying up all night curfew free. It’s 2am on a Tuesday night and your Fortnight squad is dominating. No parents asking if you’re done with your homework, no alarm clock to worry about waking you up at 6:15am, not a care in the world. Life couldn’t be any sweeter. Then it hits you… reality sets in. You realize that your first day of college is right around the corner and suddenly a feeling of terror slowly takes over your body. You feel yourself going numb from your toes and slowly climbing up your entire being. It’s almost as if you are paralyzed just at the thought of how your first semester will go. Am I even smart enough for college? What if I hate my roommate? What should I wear? Am I going to make friends? And the list goes on.
You’re not alone. There are thousands of other first year students at Texas A&M that share the very same fear. In fact, there are students at home right now thinking of an excuse to tell mom and dad so they can play hooky on the first day of school. We all have been there, I promise. However, what that fear fails to tell you is some of our most blissful moments are found on the other side of terror.
The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. – Will Smith

Your best memories are waiting for you to make them and just in case you need help preparing, here are a few tips to help you conquer some of the most common fears freshman face their first year.
We can’t wait to see you and remember!
